Fun Weekend and Easy Yummy Cookies

So I went to a Tucson Toros game for the first time. They are a less than minor league baseball team. It was funny to see what kind of people were in the audience. Tickets are $6 general admission, and people spend more on hot dogs and beer than their admission. I went with Jeremy and his IBM work friends. Fun! Here we are at the game. My hair has gotten so long, geez!
I am happiest when I am with him. :)
Anyway, I was bored Friday afternoon and looked around Jeremy's kitchen for what I could whip up for his friends to munch before the baseball game. So I decided to make some delicious cookies! They are super easy and very versatile. You can be creative.

Ingredients:

Any box of cake mix you like
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil or melted butter
oven
metal pan
any chips/extras you would like
(I used a yellow cake mix and brown sugar, Fabulous!)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
combine ingredients

In a second batch I added brown sugar to the dough itself

arrange spoonfuls on baking pan
(I topped mine with brown sugar, MMM)

bake 10 min

savor in the delight of cookies that taste like cake!

Letters to My Future Husband #1

So after seeing a woman’s blog suggested by Lauren, (http://melissabxoxo.blogspot.com/) I saw her “Letters to my future husband” and thought that it would be fun to create entries of my own like that. She addresses them to herself, but I would address them to my future husband. I constantly catch myself observing couples in public: old and young, fat and thin, tall and short. What I find good and bad about their mannerisms and what they say to one another is stored in a small cabinet in the back of my head. I find myself looking to the future as often as twice a day. I observe my current relationship and think of what it might be like in the future with him. The only reason I’m crediting the woman is for the entry title. I feel as if it is sweet and constructive to building my expectations and what I want for myself as a future wife and mother. Things I want from myself and my future husband. So here it goes.

Dear Future Husband,

I am so happy we are together. I promise I will never forget the day we met nor or an anniversary. I promise to smile and ask how your day was every day, even if my day was awful. If you hate my cooking one night, I will try my best to make up for it the next meal. You can make me dinner too you know. I hope we can cherish our time together and neither of us will get sick early in life. Let’s travel after we get married. Let’s enjoy our time as a couple before settling down with children. Let’s have the best Christmas cards every year. Showing where we have been and how happy we are.

Let’s get a puppy and name it after a car. Let’s grow a garden in our backyard and tend to it together every weekend. I will remind you of the things you forget but you must promise to appreciate the gesture. Let us always be honest with one another for secrets destroy souls. Be true to me as I will be to you. Let’s laugh with each other not at each other.

Comfort me when I am down, as I will try to lift your spirits every day regardless.  Keep me in your thoughts throughout the day, while I keep you in mine. Kiss me with passion every time. Don’t forget that any goodbye could be the last. Let’s not go to bed angry, we have more important things to worry about. That’s all for now, see you someday.

Love, Your Future Wife

Sunday Breakfast

Unfortunately I am 420 miles away from my father whom I am unable to spend father's day with this year. I mailed him a card I didn't get teary for at Walgreens and called him this morning. I really miss him. It's incredible to reflect on everything he has done for me my whole life and how dedicated to my growth and well being he is. I can't wait to go visit my family in July. Jeremy and I already got tickets! Anyway, I spent the day making breakfast for Jeremy: Pigs in a blanket, scrambled eggs with jalapeƱos, and fresh mangoes sprinkled with sugar. Here are the piggies in the blankets.
It was hilarious because Jeremy had no idea there were sausage links inside and bit into it and said  "Ahhh! What is this?!" I said "It's pigs in a blanket!" and he said, "Isn't that anything that's wrapped in bacon?" We proceeded to google it, which is the solution and settlement of our disputes. And voila, one for Sam.

Overall a pleasant and relaxing weekend. Had a yummy Greek lunch on Friday with Kirsten at Sunrise Cafe, enjoyed having the day off from class and work. Saturday evening I tried grilling cheese stuffed burgers and based on the results, I will not be posting any pictures. Obviously perfecting a stuffed burger is a learning process. Promise I'll get it soon!

Samantha Works

So today turned into a longer day than I had originally planned. I usually go to work in the morning, then class, and my day is free after 2:45 to fill with gym-time, homework, etc. But today, I had work at the Museum from 9-12. Incidentally I forgot to print my paper for my class at 1:00, so I had to rush (at the speed limit of course) home to print it out and be back to campus on-time. Thankfully, my museum bosses love me enough to let me go take care of business whenever it may be necessary.

Anywho, before I left, Miss Christine (the secretary) told us Lenay wouldn't be able to come in to work at the front desk this afternoon since her grandpa died. (rest in peace Mr. Lenay's grandpa) I offered to take the shift since my class got out at 2:45. It was fun to close up the museum. Had some good conversation with the security officer and my other various coworkers. Everyone at the museum is so different yet we all seem to work together as a cohesive unit in a way that lets the museum function normally.. well if there is such a thing. I'll be sure to post museum shenanigans as they come about. There are PLENTY trust me.

So while at the front desk, my pal Kristen, also the registrar of the museum asked if I would cat sit for her while she and her husband went to Hawaii next week. I gladly obliged since after all, she did take in the stray cat that I found and didn't have the heart to take to the pound. So after work, I went to her place to get the low-down on where the food is and how the doors lock and things of that nature. Her house isn't in the best part of town, but thats why she has ferocious cats to protect her and her husband? haha

Kristen's story is very interesting. She loves cats first of all. Her passion is driven by the love she can give to her cats, which I find genuine and sweet. Her husband obviously loves them too or else he wouldn't let her have that many cats in the house! They have 5 inside cats, 3 outside hang around cats, and one mama kitty they found giving birth to 4 kittens on their doorstep. So technically if you add them up, I will be sitting 13 cats. (there was an old woman who lived in a shoe...)

Anyway, the kittens are simply scrumptious little things. They are only 2 weeks old now! I will definitely post pictures next week during my kitty visits. Their little "mews" are so precious I wonder if I could record them somehow? They don't have names yet, because she plans to give them away when they are old enough. But I have a feeling I will end up calling them something other than "kitty" or "beebee kitty" or any other "goo-goo ga-ga" thing. Hmm.. maybe I will name one of them Lady Gaga? They have to be unisex names since you cant really tell the sex of them yet they are so young. I am excited to pet sit!

Ah, but after all this fun, I arrived at home not motivated enough for the gym. So Flirty Girl Fitness here I come! Time for some late night squats.

-over and out.

I really do have to share this here. :-)

omg- shoes

A secret love of mine = shoes. I have lots, but wear few. Its a dreadful addiction.
Forgive me?
These are currently newest on my wishlist: The Banker Lamp Heel from ModCloth!
This site has tons of cute stuff, I love their dresses, their vintage pieces, and of course their shoes.
My mother said these shoes were totally me. I must agree.
alas, the $64.99 will be spent elsewhere- the grocery store or gas station perhaps.
but a girl can dream, right?

Phoenix car shopping

On Saturday, Jeremy, his dad and I went up to Chapman BMW in Phoenix to shop for a car for Jeremy. And Ta-Da! we ended up driving one home. It's a BMW 128i. Its a beautiful car and so much fun to drive. So after paper work was done, we were able to drive the new baby home. And of course, it rained on the sparkling new wax job before we got it into the garage. There are so many fun gadgets and gizmos like the navigation system, Bluetooth for your phone to be hands free, Sirius satellite radio, and BMW assist -like OnStar for Beemers. It was a blast to drive home and hugs curves very tightly. I'm so proud of my man for all he has achieved in just one year out of undergrad. <3 Here are some pictures! We haven't named the car yet, but we will very soon.

I don't know if it is how black the car is but I sure do need a summer tan.

to blog or not to blog

So I've been thinking... How could my life possibly be interesting enough to blog about? Then I thought about how I enjoy writing, pictures, and viewing other blogs. And I've decided that it could be entertaining to document my adventures. After all, Kieren, Kelly, and Lauren are doing it. Why shouldn't I? Haha :)

Now the frequency and dedication to this documentation of my adventures is something I don't necessarily want to become completely enveloped in. Facebook is addicting to some already, right? I guess we'll see how much I can keep up with it. I have a lot to live up to since I've enjoyed so much reading Kieren's and Kelly's blogs I'm not sure I can compare. But alas... I shall try. :)

So forgive my newbie-ness when it comes to the future postings on this lovely expression contraption they call the Blogger. But bear with me and I will hopefully post interesting, funny, and insightful things.
